What Causes Diabetes?

Insulin resistance: The body responds to insulin resistance by dumping more insulin into the blood stream. (That's compensatory hyperinsulemia.) Insulin is the key to the doors of the cells that need glucose for nourishment. Most people can produce large amounts of insulin to force glucose out of the bloodstream and into the cells. When they can no longer produce enough insulin to overcome the resistance, they have type 2 diabetes.
